Observation of chi-b(1PJ,2PJ) decays to light hadrons

Abstract

Analyzing (nS) decays acquired with the CLEO detector operating at the CESR e+e- collider, we measure for the first time the product branching fractions B[(nS)γb((n-1)PJ)] × B[b(n-1)PJ) Xi] for n=2 and 3, where Xi denotes, for each i, one of the fourteen exclusive light-hadron final states for which we observe significant signals in both b(1PJ) and b(2PJ) decays. We also determine upper limits for the electric dipole (E1) transitions (3S) γ b(1PJ).
