On the solvability of systems of bilinear equations in finite fields

Abstract

Given k sets Ai ⊂eq Fqd and a non-degenerate bilinear form B in Fqd. We consider the system of l ≤ k2 bilinear equations \[ B (ai, aj) = λi j, ai ∈ Ai, i = 1, ..., k. \] We show that the system is solvable for any λi j ∈ Fq*, 1 ≤ i,j ≤ k, given that the restricted sets Ai's are sufficiently large.
