J/psi production at high transverse momentum in p+p and Cu+Cu collisions at =200GeV

Abstract

The STAR collaboration at RHIC presents measurements of e+e- at mid-rapidity and high transverse momentum (pT>5 GeV/c) in and central collisions at = 200 GeV. The inclusive production cross section for collisions is found to be consistent at high pT with the binary collision-scaled cross section for collisions, in contrast to previous measurements at lower pT, where a suppression of production is observed relative to the expectation from binary scaling. Azimuthal correlations of J/ with charged hadrons in collisions provide an estimate of the contribution of B-meson decays to production of 13% 5%.
