Measurement of the Inelastic Cross-Section and Prospects for Elastic Measurements with ATLAS

Abstract

A first measurement of the inelastic cross-section of proton-proton collisions at sqrts =7 TeV using the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is presented. The measurement is made using scintillators in the forward region of the ATLAS detector. Prospects for elastic cross-section measurements are also discussed.
