Singular cardinals and strong extenders

Abstract

We investigate the circumstances under which there exist a singular cardinal $\mu$ and a short $(\kappa, \mu)$-extender $E$ witnessing "$\kappa$ is $\mu$-strong", such that $\mu$ is singular in $\Ult(V, E)$.
