First observation of the isospin violating decay J/→ 0+c.c.

Abstract

Using a sample of (225.2 2.8)× 106 J/ events collected with the BESIII detector, we present results of a study of J/→ γ and report the first observation of the isospin violating decay J/→0+c.c., in which 0 decays to γ . The measured branching fractions are B(J/→0) = (1.460.110.12) ×10-5 and B(J/→0) = (1.370.120.11) ×10-5. We search for (1520) → γ decay, and find no evident signal, and an upper limit for the product branching fraction B(J/→(1520)+c.c.)× B((1520)→γ)<4.1 ×10-6 is set at the 90% confidence level. We also report the observation of ηc→ in J/ → γ ηc, ηc→ and measure the branching fraction B(ηc→) =(1.160.12 (stat)0.19(syst)0.28(PDG))×10-3.
