Direct CP violation in charm at Belle

Abstract

Using the full data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider, we have searched for CP violation of charmed mesons in D+→ K0Sπ+ and D0→ h+h- decays, where h denotes K and π. We observe evidence for CP violation in D+→ K0Sπ+ decay with 3.2 standard deviations away from zero, (-0.3630.0940.067)%, while the asymmetry is consistent with the expected CP violation due to the neutral kaon in the final state. No evidence for CP violation in D0→ h+h- is observed with AKKCP=(-0.320.210.09)% and AππCP=(+0.550.360.09)%. The CP asymmetry difference between D0→ K+K- and D0→π+π- decays is also measured with AhhCP=(-0.870.410.06)%, which is 2.1 standard deviations away from zero and supports recent LHCb and CDF measurements.
