Gauge symmetry and Virasoro algebra in quantum charged rigid membrane -- a first order formalism
Abstract
The quantum charged rigid membrane model, which is a higher derivative theory has been considered to explore its gauge symmetries using a recently developed first order formalism BMP. Hamiltonian analysis has been performed and the gauge symmetry of the model is identified as reparametrisation symmetry. First class constraints are shown to have a truncated Virasoro algebraic structure. An exact correspondence between the higher derivative theory and the first order formalism has been shown from the point of view of equations of motion.
