On Some Integrals Over the Product of Three Legendre Functions

Abstract

The definite integrals ∫-11(1-x2)(-1)/2[P(x)]3 x, ∫-11(1-x2)(-1)/2[P(x)]2P(-x) x, ∫-11x(1-x2)(-1)/2[P+1(x)]3 x and ∫-11x(1-x2)(-1)/2[P+1(x)]2P+1(-x) x are evaluated in closed form, where P is the Legendre function of degree , and >-1. Special cases of these formulae are related to certain integrals over elliptic integrals that have arithmetic interest.
