Complementary cosmological tests of RSII brane models
Abstract
In this paper we explore observational bounds on flat and non-flat cosmological models in Type II Randall-Sundrum (RSII) branes. In a first analysis, we consider current measurements of the expansion rate H(z) (with two priors on the local Hubble parameter) and 288 Type Ia supernovae from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (within the framework of the mlcs2k2 light-curve fitting method). We find that the joint analysis involving these data is an interesting tool to impose limits on the brane tension density parameter (Omegalambda) and that the spatial curvature has a negligible influence on Omegalambda estimates. In order to obtain stronger bounds for the contribution of the λ we also add in our analysis the baryon oscillation peak (BAO) and cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) observations by using the so-called CMB/BAO ratio. From this analysis we find that the Omegalambda contribution is less than 4.10-5 (1sigma).
