Congruences involving gn(x)=Σk=0n nk22kkxk

Abstract

Define gn(x)=Σk=0n nk22kkxk for n=0,1,2,.... Those numbers gn=gn(1) are closely related to Ap\'ery numbers and Franel numbers. In this paper we establish some fundamental congruences involving gn(x). For example, for any prime p>5 we have Σk=1p-1gk(-1)k 0p2andΣk=1p-1gk(-1)k2 0 p. This is similar to Wolstenholme's classical congruences Σk=1p-11k0p2andΣk=1p-11k20 p for any prime p>3.
