Squaring operator P\'olya--Szeg\"o and Diaz--Metcalf type inequalities
Abstract
We square operator P\'olya--Szeg\"o and Diaz--Metcalf type inequalities as follows: If operator inequalities 0<m12 ≤ A≤ M12 and 0<m22≤ B≤ M22 hold for some positive real numbers m1≤ M1 and m2≤ M2, then for every unital positive linear map the following inequalities hold: eqnarray* ((A)(B))2 &≤&(M1M2 + m1m22M1M2m1m2)4(A B)2 eqnarray* and eqnarray* ( M2m2M1m1 (A) + (B) )2 ≤ ( (M1m1(M22 + m22) + M2m2(M12 + m12))28M2M1m1m2 M12m12M2m2 )2 (A B)2\,. eqnarray*
