The monic Laguerre polynomials preserve real-rootedness
Abstract
Let Ln(x) and Lnα(x) be the nth Laguerre and associated Laguerre polynomial respectively. Fisk proved that the linear operator sending xn to Ln(x) preserves real-rootedness. In this note we prove a stronger result; namely, that when α 0, the linear operator sending xn to (-1)n n! Lnα(x) preserves real-rootedness.
