Measurement of the mass and lifetime of the b- baryon
Abstract
A proton-proton collision data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1 collected by LHCb at s=7 and 8 TeV, is used to reconstruct 639 b-c0π-, c0 pK-K-π+ decays. Using the b-c0π-, c0 pK-K-π+ decay mode for calibration, the lifetime ratio and absolute lifetime of the b- baryon are measured to be align* τ_b-τ_b- &= 1.110.160.03, \\ τ_b- &= 1.780.260.050.06~ ps, align* where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic and from the calibration mode (for τ_b- only). A measurement is also made of the mass difference, m_b--m_b-, and the corresponding b- mass, which yields align* m_b--m_b- &= 247.43.20.5~ MeV/c2, \\ m_b- &= 6045.13.2 0.50.6~ MeV/c2. align* These results are consistent with previous measurements.
