Higher-order identities for balancing numbers
Abstract
Let Bn be the n-th balancing number. In this paper, we give some explicit expressions of Σl=02 r-3(-1)l2 r-3lΣj1+·s+jr=n-2 l j1,…,jr 1Bj1·s Bjr and Σj1+·s+jr=n j1,…,jr 1Bj1·s Bjr. We also consider the convolution identities with binomial coefficients: Σk1+·s+kr=n k1,…,kr 1nk1,…,krBk1·s Bkr This type can be generalized, so that Bn is a special case of the number un, where un=a un-1+b un-2 (n 2) with u0=0 and u1=1.
