Heterodiffusion coefficients in α-iron
Abstract
The diffusion of tungsten in α-iron is important for the application of ferritic-iron alloys to thermal power plants. These data, over a wide temperature range across the Curie temperature, have been recently reported. We show that these diffusion coefficients can be satisfactory reproduced in terms of the bulk elastic and expansivity data by means of a thermodynamical model that interconnects point defects parameters with bulk qualities.
