Reidemeister spectrum of special and general linear groups over some fields contains 1

Abstract

We prove that if F is an algebraically closed field of zero characteristic which has infinite transcendence degree over Q, then there exists a field automorphism of SLn(F) and GLn(F) such that R()=1. This fact implies that SLn(F) and GLn(F) do not possess the R∞-property. However, if the transcendece degree of F over Q is finite, then SLn(F) and GLn(F) are known to possess the R∞-property.
