Assassins and torsion functors
Abstract
Let R be a ring, let a⊂eq R be an ideal, and let M be an R-module. Let a denote the a-torsion functor. Conditions are given for the (weakly) associated primes of a(M) to be the (weakly) associated primes of M containing a, and for the (weakly) associated primes of M/a(M) to be the (weakly) associated primes of M not containing a.
