Tests of Lepton Flavour Universality with Semileptonic Decays at LHCb
Abstract
The observable R ( D(*) ) = B( B0 D(*)- τ+ τ ) / B( B0 D(*)- μ+ μ ) is a probe for Lepton Universality violation, so it is sensitive to New Physics processes. The current combination of the measurements of R ( D(*) ) differs from Standard Model predictions with a 4σ significance. A measurement of R ( D* ) using three-prong τ decays has been performed at LHCb, resulting in R(D*) = 0.285 0.019 (stat) 0.025(syst) 0.014 (ext). This value, combined with the LHCb result obtained with τ μ τ μ decays, gives R(D*) = 0.306 0.016 (stat) 0.022 (syst), consistent with the world average and 2.1 standard deviations above the SM prediction.
