We give elementary proofs for the Apagodu-Zeilberger-Stanton-Amdeberhan-Tauraso congruences Σn=0p-12nn ηp p2, Σn=0rp-12nn ηpΣn=0r-1 2nn p2 and Σn=0rp-1Σm=0sp-1n+mm2 ηp Σm=0r-1Σn=0s-1n+mm2 p2, where p is an odd prime, r and s are nonnegative integers, and ηp= cases 0, &if p0 3;\\ 1, & if p1 3;\\ -1, &if p2 3 cases.$
