About multiplicities and applications to Bezout numbers
Abstract
Let (A,m,) denote a local Noetherian ring and q an ideal such that A(M/qM) < ∞ for a finitely generated A-module M. Let = a1,…,ad denote a system of parameters of M such that ai ∈ qci qci+1 for i=1,…,d. It follows that := e0(;M) - c · e0(q;M) ≥ 0, where c = c1· … · cd. The main results of the report are a discussion when = 0 resp. to describe the value of in some particular cases. Applications concern results on the multiplicity e0(;M) and applications to Bezout numbers.
