The equivariant volumes of the permutahedron

Abstract

We consider the action of the symmetric group Sn on the permutahedron n. We prove that if σ is a permutation of Sn which has m cycles of lengths l1, …, lm, then the subpolytope of n fixed by σ has normalized volume nm-2 (l1, …, lm).
