Improved estimate for the prime counting function π(x)

Abstract

Using some simple combinatorial arguments, we establish some new estimates for the prime counting function and its allied functions. In particular we show that alignπ(x)=(x)+O(1 x), alignwhere align(x)=θ(x) x+x2 x-14- 2 xΣ n≤ x\\(n)=k\≥ 2\\2| n (xn) 2. alignThis is an improvement to the estimate alignπ(x)=θ(x) x+O(x2 x) alignfound in the literature.
