Functions with integer-valued divided differences

Abstract

Let s0,s1,s2,… be a sequence of rational numbers whose mth divided difference is integer-valued. We prove that sn is a polynomial function in n if sn θn for some positive number θ satisfying θ < e1 + 12 + ·s+ 1m -1.
