On the almost sure convergence of sums

Abstract

Two counterexamples, addressing questions raised in AD and PZ, are provided. Both counterexamples are related to chaoses. Let Fn=Yn+Zn. It may be that Fna.s. 0, FnL2+δ 0 and E\n\,Fnδ\<∞, where δ>0 and Yn and Zn belong to chaoses of uniformly bounded degree, and yet Yn fails to converge to 0 a.s.
