A domain free of the zeros of the partial theta function

Abstract

We prove that for q∈ (0,1), the partial theta function θ (q,x):=Σ j=0∞qj(j+1)/2xj has no zeros in the closed domain \ \ |x|≤ 3\ \ Rex≤ 0\ \ | Imx|≤ 3/2\ \ ⊂ C and no real zeros ≥ -5.
