Concavity of thermostatic entropy and convexity of Lax's mathematical entropy
Abstract
It is shown that for any real gas in chemical equilibrium, the convexity proposed by Lax isequivalent to the concavity of the entropy considered as thermodynamic potential and thepositivity of temperature.
