The a-number of yq2+q+1 = xq2+1 + xq over finite field
Abstract
In this paper, we compute a formula for the a-number of curve X given by the equation yq2 + q + 1 = xq2 + 1 - xq over the finite field Fq2. The a-number is an invariant of the isomorphism class of the p-torsion group scheme. In this paper, we compute a closed formula for the a-number of X using the action of the Cartier operator on H0(X, 1).
