Ducci on Zm3 and the Max Period
Abstract
Let D(x1, x2, ..., xn)=(x1+x2 \;mod \; m, x2+x3 \; mod \; m, ..., xn+x1 \; mod \; m) where D ∈ End(Zmn) be the Ducci function. The sequence \Dk(u)\k=0∞ will eventually enter a cycle. If n=3, we aim to establish the longest a cycle can be for a given m.
