Abstract
This short note is the extended abstract of a seminar I have delivered on several occasions over the past few months on canonical threefolds whose canonical volume is "close" to the lower bound 4/3pg - 10/3. This is a project in collaboration with S. Coughlan, Y. Hu, and T. Zhang.
