SL2-character varieties of 2-generated groups and failure of weak integrality

Abstract

Let be a prime number, k a positive integer and consider the group k := a,b\ \ a^k(k-1)ba-kb-2. We prove that k is not SL2-weakly integral with obstruction at exactly the prime . We also give a general description of the character varieties of 2-generated groups with a relation of the form an1 bm1 an2 bm2 = 1.
