On the distance between factorials and repunits

Abstract

We show that if n n0, b 2 are integers, p 7 is prime and n!-(bp-1)/(b-1) 0, then n!-(bp-1)/(b-1) 0.5 n/ n. Further results are obtained, in particular for the case n!-(bp-1)/(b-1) < 0.
