G-Quotients of Grassmannians and Equations
Abstract
Laurent Lafforgue's presentation of a Grassmannian Grd, E naturally comes equipped with the induced action of a subtorus T of PGL(E). By investigating the defining ideals of T-orbit closures through general points of Grd,E and studying their degenerations, we obtain a morphsim q: Fd, E Hd, E such that Hd, E, termed the G-quotient of Grd,E by T, is birational to [ Grd, E/T], and q, termed G-family of Grd,E by T, is a family of general T-orbit closures and their degenerations. We obtain a series of new results on Hd, E and Fd, E.
