Scintillation index analysis for multi-wavelength Gaussian beams in turbulent underwater channels
Abstract
We investigate the scintillation index of multi-wavelength Gaussian optical beams propagating through a turbulent optical channel. We consider a turbulent environment ranging from weak to strong, with a specific focus on the weak turbulent regime. Furthermore, the impacts of absorption and scattering effects are taken into account. It is shown here that the use of a multi-wavelength beam results in a reduction in the scintillation index, thereby enhancing the performance of the underwater optical link.
