First Amplitude Analysis of D0→ K-π0e+e and Observation of D0→ K*2(1430)-e+e

Abstract

We present the first amplitude analysis of the semileptonic decay D0 K-π0 e+e by analyzing e+e- annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb-1 collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. A tiny D-wave component of the K*2(1430)- accounting for (0.16 0.05 stat 0.02 syst)\% of the K-π0 is observed for the first time with a significance of 7.9σ in addition to the dominant P-wave component of K*(892)- and the sub-dominant K-π0 S-wave. The hadronic form factors of the D0 K*(892)- transition are measured precisely as rV=V(0)/A1(0)=1.41 0.05 stat 0.01 syst and r2=A2(0)/A1(0)=0.77 0.04 stat 0.02 syst. The branching fraction of D0 K*(892)-e+e with K*(892)- K-π0 is measured to be (7.4030.061 stat. 0.048 syst.)×10-3. Combining the measurements of the D0 K*(892)-(K*(892)- K-π0)+ , lepton flavor universality is tested by the ratio R LFU=B(D0 K*(892)-μ+ μ)/B(D0 K*(892)-e+e)=0.9280.020 stat0.012 syst with unprecedented precision; no violation is found. Furthermore, isospin symmetry in the decay K*(892) Kπ is tested by RK*- =B(K*(892)- K- π0)/B(K*(892)- KS0 π-)= 1.090.02 stat0.02 syst for the first time using the previous measurement of D0 K*(892)-e+e with K*(892)- K0Sπ-. Finally, the phase shift of the Kπ S is extracted in a model-independent way, which sheds light on the nature of the lightest strange scalar meson, the K*0(700).
