The maximum size of the partial ground set of skew Bollob\'as systems

Abstract

A skew Bollob\'as system P=\(Ai,Bi):1≤ i≤ m\ is a collection of pairs of disjoint subsets of [n] such that Ai Bj for any 1≤ i<j≤ m. Denote by S1(a, b) or S2(a, b) the maximum size of i=1m Ai or i=1m Bi, respectively, over all possible skew Bollob\'as systems P=\(Ai,Bi):1≤ i≤ m\ satisfying |Ai| ≤ a and |Bi| ≤ b for all i ∈ [m]. It is shown that for any non-negative integers a and b, S1(a,b)=a+b+1a-1 and S2(a,b)=a+b+1a+1-1.
