The Quasi-linearity problem for Jordan-Banach algebras: a topological characterization

Abstract

Let J be a JB*-algebra with no quotients isomorphic to S2(C). Let μ be a local quasi-linear Jordan functional on Jsa. We show that μ is a linear functional on Jsa if and only if the restriction of μ to the closed unit ball of Jsa is uniformly weakly continuous.
