Sensitivity of Fitting High Order Zernikes
Abstract
The sensitivity of fitting Zernike coefficients to wavefront data due to an error or uncertainty in the exact position of the edge of the wavefront data is derived. The results indicate that fitting higher and higher order Zernikes rapidly becomes a useless exercise unless the true edge of the wavefront data is known with sufficient precision.
