Comment on "Altermagnetic and Dipolar Spitting of Magnons in FeF2" arXiv:2601.04303
Abstract
Conclusions by Sears et al. (arXiv: 2601.04303) about dispersions of magnons in rutile FeF2 are unsound because compulsory lattice vibrations are omitted in the analysis of their neutron scattering spectra. Hybridized magnon-phonon modes in magnetically ordered FeF2 were observed and successfully analysed half a century ago.
