AGB stars in the Local Group, and beyond
Abstract
I summarize the current status of surveys for late-type M, and Carbon stars in the Local Group based on three different approaches that make use of the characteristics of these stars: spectral characteristics using narrow-band filters, infrared characteristics, and variability.
