Observation of the c0 Charmed Baryon at CLEO

Abstract

The CLEO experiment at the CESR collider has used 13.7 fb-1 of data to search for the production of the c0 (css-ground state) in e+e- collisions at s 10.6 GeV. The modes used to study the c0 are - π+, - π+ π0, - K- pi+ π+, 0 K- pi+, and - π+ π- π+. We observe a signal of 40.49.0(stat) events at a mass of 2694.62.6(stat)1.9(syst) MeV/c2, for all modes combined.
