Predictions for nonleptonic Lambdab and Thetab decays

Abstract

We study nonleptonic Lambdab -> Lambdac pi, Sigmac pi and Sigmac* pi decays in the limit mb, mc, Epi >> LambdaQCD using the soft-collinear effective theory. Here Sigmac = Sigmac(2455) and Sigmac* = Sigmac(2520). At leading order the Lambdab -> Sigmac(*) pi rates vanish, while the Lambdab -> Lambdac pi rate is related to Lambdab -> Lambdac, and is expected to be larger than Gamma(B -> D(*) pi). The dominant contributions to the Lambdab -> Sigmac(*) pi rates are suppressed by LambdaQCD2/Epi2. We predict Gamma(Lambdab -> Sigmac* pi) / Gamma(Lambdab -> Sigmac pi) = 2 + O[LambdaQCD/mQ, alphas(mQ)], and the same ratio for Lambdab -> Sigmac(*) rho and for Lambdab -> Xic(',*)K. ``Bow tie'' diagrams are shown to be suppressed. We comment on possible discovery channels for weakly decaying pentaquarks, Thetab,c and their nearby heavy quark spin symmetry partners, Thetab,c*.
