Gauge Mediation in Metastable Vacua
Abstract
Until recently, dynamical supersymmetry breaking seemed an exceptional phenomenon, involving chiral gauge theories with a special structure. Recently it has become clear that requiring only metastable states with broken supersymmetry leads to a far broader class of theories. In this paper, we extend these constructions still further, finding new classes which, unlike earlier theories, do not have unbroken, approximate R symmetries. This allows construction of new models with direct gauge mediation. These theories permit a relatively compact solution to the μ problem.
