Symmetrization Selection Rules

Abstract

We introduce strong and electromagnetic interaction selection rules for the two-body decay and production of exotic JPC = 0+-, 1-+, 2+-, 3-+ hybrid mesons, four-quark states and glueballs. The rules arise from symmetrization in states. Examples include various decays to eta' eta, eta pi, eta' pi and pi pi0. The symmetrization rules can discriminate between hybrid and four-quark interpretations of a 1-+ signal.
