Up-Down Asymmetry of Neutral Current Events as a Diagnostic for Numu - Nu-st Versus Numu- Nutau Oscillations
Abstract
We show that the asymmetry in the neutral current events (e.g. Nu N -> Nu N pi0) can be used to discriminate between Numu - Nutau and Numu - Nust mixing as being responsible for the atmospheric neutrino anomaly. Specifically, AN vanishes for Numu - Nutau mixing and is about 2/3 Amu for Numu - Nust mixing.
