Abstract

Gamma rays in the energy range from 6 to 38 MeV were produced and sent into two large volume LaBr3(Ce) crystals (3.5x8 inches) at the NewSUBARU facility, with the goal of investigating the response function of the detectors. By comparing the experimental spectra of the two detectors we deduced the linearity of the system, separately of the two crystals and of the two PMT and VD associated. Moreover, Monte Carlo simulations were performed in order to reproduce the experimental spectra. The photopeak and interaction efficiencies both in case of a collimated beam and an isotropic source were also evaluated.
