A re-analysis of x-ray heated aluminum scattering data
Abstract
A re-anaylsis of the x-ray scattering data in Sperling et al. indicates that the measurement of elevated temperatures may be unreliable. The original analysis did not include uncertainties in the instrument function used to extract the plasmon signal. Including these effects leads to poor agreement with the theoretical models. The experimental conditions were also not measured and the heating was likely significantly lower than claimed.
