A minimality criterion for surfaces of general type with applications to product-quotient surfaces
Federico Fallucca
Abstract
We provide a numerical criterion to find the curves on a surface of general type that are contracted to its minimal model. We then apply this approach to product-quotient surfaces, where the criterion determines whether all such contracted curves are contained in reducible fibres of the two natural fibrations.
