Content types
- Imported metadata
- Author-supplied or arXiv-maintained descriptive fields are displayed with limited normalization. arXiv remains the source of record. Learn more on the data sources and licensing section.
- Computed product signals
- Feed order, related-paper selection, category standings, and other rankings are product calculations. A high position is not an endorsement, citation count, or finding that a paper is correct.
- AI-assisted output
- Research-signal profiles, cited answers, learning material, and explanations may be generated by language models. They can omit context, misread a source, or state an inference too strongly.
- Reader-controlled material
- Saves, collections, preferences, notes, questions, and private learning state reflect reader actions. Their presence does not alter the official paper record.
Editorial standards
- Link to the original record so readers can inspect the source and paper version.
- Distinguish what a paper reports or proposes from facts independently established elsewhere.
- State source limits and uncertainty rather than fill unsupported dimensions or invent evidence.
- Do not invent author biographies, affiliations, credentials, peer-review status, or publication outcomes from name strings or incomplete metadata.
- Keep promotional activity and private personalization from changing the viewer-independent public research-signal score.
These standards describe the intended product behavior; they do not guarantee that every generated output will comply. The correction channel exists because model and software failures are possible.
AI use and review status
A preliminary research assessment uses a paper’s metadata and abstract. A full-paper assessment may use section-aware text processed transiently from the PDF. Unsupported metrics should remain empty, and generated reasons should be tied to the input basis. Provider, model, prompt version, paper version, and processing time are recorded for those assessments.
Search answers are intended to cite the paper records supplied to the answer. Learning material and contextual explanations are aids to navigation and understanding, not verified summaries of every claim in a full paper.
Unless a page explicitly says that a named review occurred, assume AI-assisted material has not received human editorial review. A curated or published label alone must not be read as a promise of expert fact-checking.

Rankings and recommendations
Public research-signal quality is intended to be deterministic and the same for every viewer. Category standings compare assessed papers within defined cohorts. Popularity does not change public quality. Personalized relevance, where used, is a separate private ordering signal.
Coverage is incomplete, cohorts change, and a model score is not a scientific consensus. Do not use ArcXiv rankings alone for clinical, legal, financial, hiring, funding, or other high-impact decisions.
Corrections and removals
If an imported title, author list, abstract, category, date, or license differs from arXiv, first check the current arXiv record and its version history. Authors must use arXiv’s own process to change the source record; ArcXiv cannot edit arXiv.
For a stale import, broken source link, generated factual error, misleading ranking reason, privacy concern, or rights/removal request, contact ArcXiv with the page URL, arXiv identifier if applicable, the disputed text, and a primary source that supports the report. Do not send confidential paper drafts or account credentials.
Reports are classified as source-data, display, derived-output, privacy, or rights issues and checked against the best available primary source. A supported response may refresh the import, correct or qualify ArcXiv output, remove ArcXiv-derived material, or direct the reporter to arXiv. No action on ArcXiv changes the official arXiv record.
