Non-Commutativity in Geodesic Congruences

Abstract
We propose a geometric realization of spacetime non-commutativity where the spacetime manifold remains smooth while the commutation relation between tangent and separation vectors of geodesic congruences is generalized via Frobenius' theorem. This non-commutative kinematic deformation leads to a modified Raychaudhuri equation with a shifted expansion scalar θ=θ+θ NC. We introduce a timelike and null-like Non-Commutative Energy Condition (NCEC) under which focusing and geodesic incompleteness can, in some regimes, persist even when the standard strong energy condition is violated. Using this, we generalize the key focusing lemmas, conjugate-point propositions, and singularity theorems for both timelike geodesics orthogonal to a Cauchy surface and null geodesics orthogonal to a trapped surface. Applied to a FLRW spacetime, we argue that θ NC modifies both the Friedmann acceleration equation and the continuity equations. The non-commutative corrections separate into a universal modification of the dilution of the standard cosmological fluids and another contribution to the dark energy sector that is non-linear in energy density. Crucially, this provides a purely geometric origin for the evolution of dark energy, without introducing exotic dark energy fields or modifying Einstein's field equations.
